Wilting gerbera daisy flower

To chop or not to chop?

So far when my Gerbera daisy flowers had started wilted I gave the plant a bit of water and it would quickly perk up. This time however is different.

This time the the flower that’s wilting wouldn’t perk up with water while the other flower stem stood proud. So I’m taking that to mean the wilting stalk is dying.

So the question is whether to trim the stalk or now. I know many plants will re-absorb resources from dying parts, for example deciduous trees and their leaves at autumn. Does that apply to flowers though? I wouldn’t be surprised if plants continued to try to grow the dying stem/flower as it’s all about reproduction.

It certainly seems plenty of sites encourage pruning of dying flower stems (dead heading), so that’s what I’ll do…
